What is Unix Time?
Unix time (also known as Epoch time or POSIX time) counts the number of seconds that have elapsed since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 UTC. This date is known as the Unix Epoch.
Unix timestamps are widely used in computing, databases, and APIs because they provide a simple, timezone-independent way to represent a point in time. The timestamp 0 represents midnight UTC on January 1, 1970.
The Unix timestamp is timezone-agnostic — the same timestamp represents the same moment everywhere in the world, regardless of local time.
